History

The British Columbia (BC) Ghanaian Seventh-day Adventist Fellowship was initiated by a small Ghanaian group living in British Columbia, Canada. The group comprised of individuals who shared similar desires to build the faith of one another and to share the gospel with those who do not yet know Jesus. Their main goal was to nurture people to love God passionately, genuinely love others, and actively make disciples for Jesus.

Thus, in the summer of 2020, they engaged in much prayer and discussion and sensed God leading them to reach out to the many Ghanaians living in the Greater Vancouver area. This target group consisted of once Seventh-day Adventist individuals
but had left the church because of language barriers or other minor issues.

Pastor Wesley Torress since March 2023 has been our church Pastor. He says “It is a privilege to be part of such a vibrant fellowship”.

Join us in our journey of faith and community.

First Core Members

To achieve the primary goal of reaching others with the love of Christ, the British Columbia Ghanaian SDA Fellowship formed the first core members of 14* individuals in September 2020 by engaging the assistance of other passionate
Ghanaian Seventh-day Adventists around the globe to plan and implement different forms of outreach projects. This group planned these outreach projects to;

1. reach the people in the local community who do not yet know Jesus to come to a saving knowledge of Him;

2. strengthen and encourage existing members to continue to get involved in the work of mission and personal evangelism.

Mission Statement

As members of the general Seventh-day Adventist community, we as a result of this attest that we believe, and under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, seek to live by and teach:

1. The 28 Fundamental Beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Our fundamental belief includes, among other things, the Biblical teaching of the trinity, spiritual gifts, the ministry of Jesus in the heavenly sanctuary
as it relates to the 1844 message, the sanctity of the Seventh-day Sabbath, and the last-day proclamation of the Three Angels’ message.

2. Biblical principles of church organization include supporting the church by our tithes and offerings, following the Church principles and guidelines as elaborated in the church Manual, and supporting the church’s worldwide
mission.

Connections

In the early stages of its growth, the British Columbia Ghanaian SDA fellowship was organized under the sponsorship of the Cornerstone SDA church.

In this regard, the sponsoring church provided adequate guidance in the administration, nurture and evangelism plans for the new Church Plant and oversaw/shared in all financial responsibilities. In addition, the Cornerstone SDA church provided the physical location for our congregational meetings.

Church Growth, Baptism, & Discipleship

The British Columbia Ghanaian SDA fellowship has observed an increase in new members through the Holy Spirit’s power and divine influence. At the beginning of the year 2021, the fellowship had a strategic plan for two evangelistic
series. These two events were organized in March and September 2021 to revive the members and reach the community of Coquitlam and Surrey.

The church family has since been growing exponentially, with new members joining regularly. God has been good to us, and we would love to worship, study, and pray with you.
